    Mgahinga wildlife can be found in the Albertine Rift montane forests, an eco region which is totaling about 33.7 square kilometers. This is in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, the smallest of Uganda’s national parks.

    The park is about 15 kilometers by road, south of the town of Kisoro and approximately 55 kilometers by road, west of Kabale. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park which is covered with a series of distinct altitudinal bands of vegetation on slopes with its lowest zone of an area as grass and bush which was formerly encroached and cleared by farmers which are now regenerating.     Less famous but equally rare and deserving of protection is the golden monkey which is found only in the Virunga and in one other forest in Rwanda. Notable bird species include the Rwenzori Turaco, crowned hornbill, black kite, crowned crane and Golden Monkeys,
